In this section you prepare the hardware, install the operating system and lock the machine down before any Monero software touches it.

Step	What you'll do
1.1 Preparations	Pick hardware and get your tools ready
1.2 Operating system	Install Ubuntu Server 26.04.1 LTS
1.3 Remote access	Find your node on the network and log in over SSH
1.4 Configuration	Update the system, set up the data drive, and check its speed
1.5 Security	Firewall, automatic security updates and brute-force protection
1.6 Privacy (Tor)	Install Tor, with its updates from the Tor Project's onion repository
