2. Monero¶
The heart of the guide: your own fully validating Monero node, with private transaction broadcasting and your own wallets connected to it.
| Step | What you'll do |
|---|---|
| 2.1 Monero node (monerod) | Install, verify, configure and sync monerod |
| 2.2 Anonymous networking | Broadcast your transactions over Tor, and add an onion address for remote wallets |
| 2.3 Desktop wallet (Feather) | Connect a desktop wallet to your node |
| 2.4 Mobile wallet | Connect a phone wallet at home and on the go |
Why your own node matters more on Monero
A Monero wallet has to scan every block to find your outputs. On a remote node, the operator sees your IP address, when your wallet is online, and the transactions you broadcast. They can also try to influence which decoys your wallet picks. With your own node, all of that stays at home.
